About Terri

Looking for a copy/paste bio?

Terri Shea learned to knit during the dot com bubble, as a way to use up her handspun yarn. After layoff during maternity leave in 2001, she began submitting patterns to magazines and websites to have something deliverable to look forward to. She has designed for yarn companies such as Plymouth Yarns and Cherry Tree Hill Yarns, websites like KnitNet.com and Knit Circus, and magazines Piecework and Knitters Magazine, and has published patterns in several books. Terri published her first book, Selbuvotter: Biography of a Knitting Tradition in 2007, and has recently republished the classic Norwegian Knitting Designs by Annichen Sibbern Bohn.

  1. Hi Terri,

I’m fascinated by your designs and plan to buy both books within the month. My sister is having a birthday soon and seeing how we were all raised with pride in our Norwegian heritage and she is very traditional, I’d like to knit her a pair of mittens from your collection. One problem… she is highly allergic to wool. I, on the other hand, am a natural fiber girl with virtually no synthetic yarn experience. Do you have any recommendations for a good non-wool substitute that will show off your patterns well?

Also, am I correct in believing that Norwegian Knitting Designs is in English?

    Thank you,

    Kari
